Our vacation has officially begun. This is the 3rd year in a row that we have had this family gathering of 4 generations. Mother's Day has been the start date each of the last 3 years as well. I made the drive down from Salt Lake City to Rockville myself on Saturday afternoon. Dean flew out to Denver and did the "road trip" with Erica and the 3 children on Sunday (Mothers Day). Rajiv will fly out in a few days to join us.
Erica reports the kids did very well on the road trip. They brought things to do and movies to watch to help pass the time. The drive, including stops took approx 11 hours. That is a long time for 3 little ones in cars seats! Sheesh, that's a long time for big folks as well! Thirty minutes after leaving home, Taj asked for the very first time, "When we we be there?" and over the course of the next 10 1/2 hours he asked the same question many, many, many more times!! Asha did start to make complaints, and fuss at about the nine hour mark, but all in all the kids were troopers!
Everyone was happy to arrive, and get out of the car!
Priya and Taj wasted no time in checking out the 4 hens, a.k.a. the ladies!
Priya had make a special request for dinner the night she arrived. It was the same dinner she requested last year... grilled steaks! So Grandpa Cooper grilled some incredibly delicious steaks, and Grandma Cooper baked some potatoes to go with them. What a wonderful meal after a long day in the car.
Day two:
There were plenty of trips to the hen house to check for eggs, and time for a little weeding... and rides on the tractor...
And we were all excited to see how much Asha has grown and changed... Here is Asha Mae with her Great Grandmother, with whom she shares a middle name, Shirley May.
Isn't she sweet? Look at those long eyelashes!
She's a beauty and such a happy, good-natured baby.
